Frequently asked questions

I can’t fit a big house in my back yard. How small can you make mine?

As small as you want! Just like any other custom builder, we design the site to fit your specific situation. On a budget? No problem. We’ll design a structure that is in your budget. Limited real estate? No big deal. We’ll design a structure that fits in your available space.

How much does a build cost?

We would be hard-pressed (and somewhat irresponsible) to give you pricing without knowing what you want to create and what the location’s specifics are, but we should at least set your expectation that these aren’t inexpensive to create. We think we’re very reasonably priced, but the nature of custom building isn’t typically synonymous with “inexpensive.” Having said that, we don’t think you can put a price on the benefits this provides for your children for their lifetimes. And hey - we can definitely brag that we are less expensive than similar folks in California. (And those aren’t the prices for custom builds - you should see those!) We’ll have to hear your dreams before we can give you a price, but suffice it to say we can design to almost any budget, assuming it’s reasonable.

Why so much?

We are creating a custom play structure by hand while also ensuring its safety, beauty, details and strength. Doing all of this in America costs significantly more than what it would cost to mass-produce playsets in a factory in some other country. Everything we do is custom created for you: for your land, for your kids or grandkids, with your desired colors, designs, details and features. This all adds up to a play structure of high value and we are confident you will get years and years of value back to your family.

How Long?

Again, when talking about any custom building project, giving timelines before we know what we’re building is pretty dicey. But in general, for the type of play house we are featuring on this website and assuming no major weather delays, it’s safe to allow 2-3 weeks for the Planning phase and 3-4 weeks for Construction. Of course we will give you more accurate timing for your project once we know what your project is.

How do we get started?

Well, first you should contact us. Once we have connected, we will schedule a time to sit down and discuss your dreams with you at your home. This allows us to see the space and hear first-hand what you’d like to accomplish.

Are the materials you use safe for kids?

Absolutely. We build play houses for your kids the exact same way we built the play house for our own kids. We take all materials into consideration and run it through the “kid-safe” filter.

We use a kid-safe stain. We do not recommend paint. It will bubble and peel over time. You can re-stain every 7-10 years, but some customers prefer to let it naturally “antique.”
